Lana Melman

Lana Melman is a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry and the CEO of Liberate Art Inc. Since 2011, she has been a leader in combating the cultural boycott (BDS) campaign against Israel, which pressures international artists to steer clear of the Jewish homeland and international venues to discriminate against Israeli artists.

In her new book, Artists Under Fire: The BDS War against Celebrities, Jews, and Israel, Melman explains the connection between antizionism and rising global antisemitism. She puts the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel on trial and tells the stories of artists like Scarlett Johansson, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, The Rolling Stones, and more, who are being used as pawns in BDS’s destructive crusade. She calls out a vocal group of artists, led by Pink Floyd cofounder Roger Waters, who have joined the attack and created a star-studded battle between themselves and the thousands of musicians, filmmakers, and authors who refuse to be cowed. Artists under Fire provides Israel supporters with an action plan to stand up to the cultural boycott campaign and will cause its followers to question the motives of their leaders, the company they are keeping, and the consequences of their actions.

Melman’s previous career included serving in both business and creative capacities at CBS, Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures, and Paramount. Melman has worked with the representatives of over a thousand artists targeted by BDS, including Alicia Keys, Cyndi Lauper, and Pitbull. She is a columnist for the Florida Jewish Journal.
