Omicron Pops Up In Israel

The Israeli Health Ministry confirms three cases of the Omicron BA.2.75 variant in travelers abroad.
Residents in nine of Shanghai’s districts will be required to undergo COVID-19 testing until July 21 in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

According to the the Health Ministry, three cases of a new Omicron mutant that has been popping up in numerous countries have been detected in Israel on Sunday. Scientists say the variant — called BA.2.75 — may be able to spread rapidly and get around immunity from vaccines and previous infection.
Several large Chinese cities including Shanghai are rolling out new mass testing or extending lockdowns on millions of residents to counter new clusters of COVID-19 infections. China has reported an average of around 390 local daily infections in the seven days ending on Sunday July 17, higher than about 340 seven days earlier.
