Flash Flood Affecting US & Africa

The death toll from the ongoing flash floods in Kentucky and Virginia, United States, increases to 35 with 37 people missing.

Beginning on July 24, 2022, and lasting over the span of a week, several areas of the United States were impacted by numerous flash flooding events. These areas included parts of Missouri and Illinois, especially Greater St. Louis, Eastern Kentucky, Southwest Virginia, parts of West Virginia, and the Las Vegas Valley. Four days into the flooding disaster after record rainfall in Eastern Kentucky, Gov. The state and region are still in rescue and recovery mode to find missing people and identify the dead. One additional death reported by the coroner in Knott County Sunday night would raise the statewide death toll to 33 in last week’s historic floods.

Floods in parts of eastern Uganda resulting from torrential rains have killed at least 24 people, the government and Uganda Red Cross said.
