Japan is being hit on many fronts with natural disasters. A new earthquake has just struck with a moment scale of 7.2. This could trigger a tzunami. Additionally, the nation is bracing for a major typhoon (hurricane). Numerous residents are being warned to evacuate their homes.
The southern county of Taitung is struck by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake, just a day after a weaker magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the same area. A tsunami advisory has been issued. Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency urges residents to evacuate southern parts of the island of Kyushu as super Typhoon Nanmadol approaches. An official for the agency warns that Nanmadol can bring “unprecedented” storms and rain to the area.
